Super Secret Spy Photo of TWW Jersey on TMZ.com

TWW news reporters have infiltrated the Primal Wear facilities and snapped this photo with our super secret belt buckle camera. We leaked the photo to the infamous gossip site - all proceeds from these photos will go to charity a la Brangelina (hope I don't get sued for copying them).

FYI, apparently these are pre-production for color comparison only. The logos aren't all there and the darker flowers don't show up, but they will on the final prints.

Tres coolio.

So much for this thing being dead...

Well, no guarantees on how much more content there will be. But I did come across an old video I did a long ways back. It isn't the most flattering video, but I'm sure Kirsten would be fine with it... :)

Back of shorts tagline

We've got this big ol' spot to sublimate on our shorts. In the past we've put sponsors there, the international wrong way sign, and just recently, the international wrong way sign with "Shake your Booty!" laid on top of it (got a nice comment at the Boggs race regarding my azz - although maybe she was referring to my shorts). Whatever, I'll take what I can get. Anyhow, so check out some ideas we have for this year's shorts. Any other ideas? Graphics? Bueller?

TWW Blog burnout

So no posts here for sometime. Maybe someday the inspiration will come back. But for now, this will be the last post for the foreseeable future. Hoped you enjoyed the ride before both tires went flat and the chain broke.

TWW Helps Again with Bike Build!!!

Hey so Team Wrong Way will be at it again - this time the goal is even larger - to build 1,800 bikes in one day!!! We'll be next to our great friends at Fox Racing Shox teaming up to build the more complex bikes (those with gears and brake levers). They crushed us last time at the build but we're hoping to step up our game and give them a little more competition (not likely though really).

Turning Wheels for Kids website

Hopefully we'll see you there - it's such a great cause - think of what it would be like for you not to have a bike. Imagine what it would be like as a child.

It's on like Donkey Kong!!!

Oh she-ite, I think I just got a little motivated to actually ride a bike. What better way to get back into the whole scene than a 8-hour team race and camping weekend at Boggs! We had so much fun there last time. Check it out here: TWW invades Boggs

Boggs 3 website

So who's in? I've been asked to form "Team Hella Slow". Three out of shape dudes whose priorities in life have changed - a Nick sighting might actually happen. Should be perfect. And hopefully we can get the Bellas out there like before to spice up the soiree a bit. That was such a good time. And it won't be Africa hot in April at Boggs (hope it doesn't rain).

Yes, it is early, but I gotta act on things while I feel the motivation. If I sign up and get this on the calendar, then it will be more difficult to bail out. So let's get some of the Boggs madness going!!!

(Okay, now happy Rookie Boy?)

It wasn't long ago...

That TWW was trying to take over the World with race promotion.

We tried working with other race promoters to develop a series in Northern CA. There were tons of races in SoCal, but not many here. But unfortunately the series never materialized. As a matter of fact, all but our race folded (DH part for the Lemurian). But I always liked the logo I did - figured would share it here since it is something that few if any ever saw. Stumbled across it looking for some other photos.

Soif City CX - Good times...

(photo pilfered from J. Suzuki)

Okay, so this was the one and only race I did all year. And can you consider the Costume Cross race a race? Of course, that is as hard as I've worked on a bike since I did the Sea Otter pre-ride way back when (you try riding in jeans and work boots). I did show off some remarkable riding skills while holding a beer. Ironic that I'm not a beer drinker and I was handed a beer. Must've been the contractor get up - was not a complete ensem without it.

I did win a pie for dressing up. Mmmmm... I sure like pie! Too bad I got a parking ticket. Oh well, it was only $25, so basically I paid $30 to race and got a pie. Plus it was good seeing some teammates (even if they were whoring for other teams) and lots of cycling friends I haven't seen all year.

As usual, the VB's put on a fun event. Thanks! And thanks to the Bella with the heaving you know whats for pinning on my number. :)

Not training actually feels kinda good...

Wow, has it really been two months since I posted to this blog? Summer is just about over, and the burnout haze still surrounds me. Not sure why considering I never really worked hard this year. Oh well, not that I was ever that fast - but this regular Joe style of working out has some appeal. No more feeling like I'm going to puke after intervals... no more illnesses from weakening the immune system... no more feeling guilty missing a workout... and more time to remodel.

My remodel page

I think the emergency room trip really sucked some life out of me too. Not to mention the debilitating back pain I had this summer for about a 2-3 weeks. Dayamn, getting old sucks. I'm thinking the racing career is done with. Time to have more fun.

Thanks XBun for inspiring me to post something... :) Oh and stop crashing people. At least until I get more inspiration to do some Pshop work to document your fame.

Umm, uhhh, hmm...

Not sure exactly what is going on here but I think it might be inappropriate to post this photo on the blog. Or at least without an advisory or something like that. I did blur out the offending images though just in case...

Looks like oV will fit in with TWW just fine... and maybe this will end up on TMZ.com...

(pre-emptive strike since I'm somewhat frightened by what photo oV may have of me...)

Sea Snotter Weekend Report

Jeez, I still feel tired and I didn't even race. Crazy Sea Otter weekend as usual. Can they puh-leeze move this event to June? Even if you don't do the bike race thing, it still is a great time to see lots of people you haven't seen in awhile. So here are my highlights (and lowlights):

Saturday

- Wake up at the crack of a$$ to volunteer for the morning shift at the Dual Slalom. Actually get kinda hot and sweaty making my way up and down the hill a few times (perhaps offering Allie the leg massage contributed to this as well). And then the wind starts blowing. And then the clouds start rolling in. And then all hell breaks loose. You hear the term "sideways rain" used pretty often. But this was as close to horizontal rain drops as I've ever seen. Just stupid. I saw a family using the honey huts for shelter - you know it's bad when you resort to that. My umbrella saved my torso and head from getting wet but the pants and boots were toast. Made for a lovely rest of the day. My feet still hurt. Calgon take me away...

- Hung out at the Velo Bella booth ogling all the hot, fit women. If I weren't a TWWer I would definitely apply for a Podium Boy position. Lets see... I mounted Kristin Danielson... 's bike on a trainer. Gave Barb Howe some crap about only having one shoe under her front tire while she was on the trainer - I did offer to put my boot there so she could ride on me... And just very much appreciated Natasha's brown serape thingy that she was wearing. Oh my. Okay, need to take a moment. (pause) Alrighty, I'm good now. Had fun playing in the mud cutting drainage trenches and cutting Astro turf. A few of the VB's were trying to get me drunk - had my first mojito (no Isaias, not your Mojito). Good times. My favorite moment might have been oV saying for me to pick him up so that he could reach higher to secure a tarp from blowing away. So I did and he screamed like a girl telling me no, no, no, no, no! and to put him down. You had to be there.

- Cruised around the expo, talked with a bunch of people, and then decided it was time to get the hell out of dodge. Managed to sweet talk a Velo Bella to let me shack up at her place (or maybe she talked me into it). Hot shower good. Dinner at a restaurant good. Warm room, queen size bed good. Okay, I'll stop there... Hmm... maybe that's why I'm so tired... I'm sure Jeni will do her investigative reporting to get to the bottom of this scandal... Oh and for the record more than one VB offered me lodging. Oh yeah, I still got game.

Sunday

- Got to the race track and again parked in freakin' Seasiyeeed. Will someone please explain to me why the people who get there first park the farthest away? And why are the parking volunteers so militant? I can say this because I volunteered too. But I guess it is pretty darn boring for them out there. At least I got to see some racing action.

- Snappped a bunch of photos of the TWW racers coming in - right at the little climb before the race track finish. Watched Julie of the Roaring Meeces dab at that final right hander - don't be mad I coulda posted a photo of that. Allan was a freakin' amazing cheerleader - he definitely had his cowbell goin' on.

- Got most of us together for the TWW group photo. Need to pshop some stragglers into the shot - is there anyone out there that can help me with that? Came up with a great little image that we'll be sending to our sponsor Crank Brothers. I'll post it here when I getter done. Fun shootin' the shite despite not racing.

So overall it was a good time. I always feel though after the Snotter that I'm done with it. But I keep coming back every year. Hard to pass up on the good times... and all da suh-weeties...

There are some serious diptards in this World

So I drop off my car to get some service done to it this morning. I get a ride back to my house by the office manager or whatever her position is. We start talking, she's kinda goofy. Then we pass two couples riding on tandems side by side. That's cool, they're both in the bike lane.

But diptard driver decides to make some peanut gallery remarks.

Diptard: "Oh how cute (sarcastically). I like driving close to them and honking the horn to scare them. I wouldn't hit them or anything."

Me: "Well, they are completely in the bike lane."

Diptard: "I know, but they still drive me crazy sometimes. Just about 5 years ago some crazy lady in Alamo ran directly into some cyclists and killed one." (laughs)

She continued to ramble on not knowing that I'm a cyclist kinda sorta. I probably shoulda lit into her but I don't think that would've made a difference. She's old and set in her ways and has her biases. Probably already passed it onto the next generation too. Sad how biases, prejudices, etc. are passed on. We're not born with them.

Plus I didn't want my car all of a sudden to need thousands of dollars in repairs...

To Sea Otter or not to Sea Otter, that is the question

Despite Sea Otter being just a week and a half away, despite being a "cyclist", for some reason I can't seem to find any motivation whatsoever to ride the bike with any intensity. My weight workouts are very intense. My running workouts are somewhat intense. But then I just spin lightly on my trainer.

So do I pay $62 to ride at Sea Otter? Or do I show up, volunteer, spectate, take pictures, schmooze, etc. and just have a grand ol' time? (but bring the bike to justify to the wife being gone all weekend for a race)

Maybe I'm still in my base building mode like Mo. Maybe I've reached the saturation point on training in the garage. Maybe I'll be like Frankie and just retire from racing (or at least take some time away from it). Weird. I'm suffering from burnout before even doing one race. What's up with that? How do the road boys race like every weekend for months on end? How come dog isn't spelled C-A-T?

Oh and with the disinterest in the bike, the blog inspiration hasn't been there eeder. Calgon take me away...

TWW at the CCCX #5

Hey so TWW will be showing up in force at the CCCX #5 this weekend - both in the XC (Saturday) and DH (Sunday). Rumor has it that there may be some recovery drinks at the TWW Hospitality tent on Saturday. It will be a BYOBC kinda event... Bring Your Own Big Cups.

Highlights from the Sea Otter pre-ride

Okay so decided with a few weeks left before the SOC, would be a good thing to maybe actually ride the bike. And why not pre-ride the course and kill two birds with one stone? Perhaps a bit aggressive for the little riding I've done, but I subscribe to the "Go big or go home!" theory. And of course I should've gone home. Had a lot of fun despite the pain and got some good blog material:

1) Sabine is pretty darn fast - we battled during the first half of the ride, her usually putting the hammer down on me. I kept trying to cover her attacks due to the testosterone in me, but I had no bidness trying to do so. Oh well. It was fun and she usually took good lines. I basically didn't see her on the climbs out though since I was fighting Uncle Crampy. Memo to self - ride bike more. Oh BTW, got the test results back from my doctor and you may be getting a phone call...

2) We waited to start the ride for Mo and Isaias. And then we hardly saw them on the ride. Hmm... Mo, when does the base building stage end?

3) Ms. Lorri of Velo Girls is a sandbagger! :) Cool pants though.

4) Alan despite his collarbone still feeling kinda funky since the break is still a monster. Can't believe he climbed that nasty climb in his 2:1 geared SS. Sure you aren't going to race this year? Although I have to admit I like the idea of going to the races to hang out and have fun and not worry about racing.

5) My spin sucks compared the Mr. Henthorn's. Or maybe the high brown socks just made his spin look mo' bettah.

6) Dawn is too intelligent for most guys...
