Why we live in California

Just got back from a little spin on Sunday, January 29 starting at 2:30pm. Short sleeve jersey, shorts, and a vest. 60 degrees and beautiful (except for the regular headwind that seems to blow in the Trivalley area). Got home, took off the jersey and shorts and see I got some tan lines. Crazy. Of course now I've jinxed the weather and we'll see like 3 weeks straight of rain and no sun.

On a side note, almost 100% certain that I crossed paths with the great one (VB) - a quick but hearty "Hey!" to each other but that was it. I looked back but I didn't even warrant a second look. Must have thought to herself, "Who's the geek riding a road bike with the visor on his helmet?!"

how you know for sure: did she have a Man In Black within half a bike length?

Strange, she was with someone in a white jersey... perhaps he was trying to come over from the dark side...

They were side by side though.

Heck* I don't even know if the person she was with was male or female. I was trying to figure out if the VB wearing chickee was VB so I didn't pay any attention to the other person. Sorry oV if that was you - I mean, you've got a nice a$$ and all, but I don't suh-wing from that side of the plate. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

he might have been testing out the team's new white "summer" jerseys

although i'd expect it to be 105 degrees out before oV'd need the whites

might have been just because the white jerseys are pretty slick-looking

I have to admit..the white jerseys are pretty slick looking.

And yes, that was us. You were so deep in thought (or just so happy to not be in a ChirpyECheese) that you didn't even notice us. oV did his usual wave and hello that he does to all and no response from you. But he's used to that. It took my hearty "Hey" to snap you out of your Fay Hoy trance.

oV was on motorpace overdrive (I was echeloning not riding side by side - roadie thang) and so I didn't get a chance to tell him that I thought that was you until he turned off the burners.

but I figured it was you

as close as we've come yet...

oV said something? Sheesh, guess I WAS in a trance... must of been the VB aura that put me in that state. Or the fact that I was given about 1.5 hours to do a ride that takes us slow out of shape folks longer than that (did it in 1:28! Amazing how effective the silent death stare when you're late is). Or the fact that my visor pretty much blocks out anything more than 20' in front of me. Mountain bike geeber.

Did you notice me flying up that road? Did ya? Huh? I was haulin'. Uh, yeah, that's it.

    So close, yet so far...

echeloning - too big of a word for my vocab. Especially if it is a roadie thang.

We were just coming back from a 3 hourish ride that included a partial ascent up Diablo. So I was pretty close to cooked.

The last two weekends oV has tricked me by saying we are going on a coffee ride. However, I have yet to see any goshdurn* coffee on these rides. I think I am going to trick him into a mountain bike ride this weekend.

But he did make me feel all better later.

    Shmoooooooop.

What did I tell ya? It's now raining. Nice.

And to top it off the shmoop has invaded this post. Great.

Too soon for even a partial ascent of Diablo for me - maybe later this month.

    'just an easy spin'

i've heard that one a lot

i think we define terms a little differently so i don't even pay attention anymore to what the ride is supposed to be

i just figure it'll be hard

Okay PF, I'm working my je ne sais pas or something like that. Seed is planted and the scales have been tilted to the "go" side, albeit just slightly (it could easily sway the other direction if she were to read this blog). Will let you know as soon as I'm officially in.

Too many youngins on this site - you don't know the mudshot from WOMBATS? If I'm there I will explain and perhaps you can demonstrate... :)
